The CEO of Instagram, Kevin Systrom has recently confirmed the original report in a series of tweets. He commented that the company is building to help the IG community know more about the amount of time they spend on Instagram.
There is no actual detail yet of what the feature entails. It will mark Instagram as the latest major company to start to think about how users are spending time in the product. They will be, of course, following in the footsteps of companies like Google and Facebook.
