The E-Ink Glare-Free Display & Outdoor Sunlight Test
Unlike LCD screens on iPads or smartphones that bounce harsh sunlight back into your eyes, the Kindle Paperwhite utilizes E-ink electronic paper technology:
- Zero Glare in Direct Sunlight: Read comfortably under bright beach sunshine without squinting or maxing out screen brightness.
- 300 ppi Sharpness: Crisp 300 ppi resolution makes text look identical to printed book ink.
- Flush-Front Screen: The 6.8-inch display features a smooth flush-front glass design with thinner bezels for an immersive reading experience.
Adjustable Warm Light for Nighttime Reading
Reading before bed with blue-spectrum light disrupts melatonin production and sleep quality.
The Paperwhite features an adjustable warm light LED system:
– Customizable Color Temperature: Smoothly transition the display front light from cool white daylight to a warm candlelit amber hue.
– Auto-Scheduling: Set the light to shift automatically to warm amber at sunset to protect your sleep schedule.
IPX8 Waterproof Rating: Bath & Pool Test
The Kindle Paperwhite is rated IPX8 waterproof:
– Freshwater Protection: Withstands accidental immersion in up to 2 meters (6.5 feet) of fresh water for up to 60 minutes.
– Seawater Protection: Withstands up to 0.25 meters of salt water for 3 minutes.
– Use Case: Enjoy reading in the bathtub, beside the swimming pool, or on the beach without fear of water splashes or drops.
