Will a 100W Charger Damage Your iPhone or iPad?
A common fear among smartphone owners is that connecting a high-wattage 100W charger like the UGREEN Nexode will “fry” or degrade the battery of smaller devices like an iPhone 15, iPad Pro, or AirPods.

The Short Answer: It Is 100% Safe
No, a 100W charger will not damage your iPhone, iPad, or low-power accessories.
Power delivery in modern USB-C devices is pull-based, not push-based. The charger does not force 100 Watts of electricity into your device; rather, the device’s internal power management chip requests only the exact wattage it is designed to handle.
How the USB Power Delivery (PD) Handshake Works
When you connect an iPhone 15 Pro Max to USB-C1 of the UGREEN 100W Nexode:
- Connection: 5V trickle voltage is established safely upon connection.
- Handshake: The iPhone communicates its maximum allowed draw (27W max).
- Negotiation: The UGREEN Nexode responds: “I can supply up to 100W, but I will regulate output to 9V/3A (27W) for you.”
- Safe Charging: Power begins flowing at exactly 27W.
If you plug in AirPods Pro (which draw only 5W), the charger supplies exactly 5W at 5V/1A.
Impact on Long-Term Battery Health
Using the UGREEN 100W Nexode will not degrade your iPhone or iPad battery health any faster than official Apple chargers:
- Modern lithium-ion batteries feature built-in charge controller ICs that regulate current and cut off power when full.
- The UGREEN Nexode includes over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit, and thermal safeguards to protect sensitive electronics.
