Around the time of October last year, it emerged that Conde Nast-which publishes high-fashion magazines Vogue and Vanity Fair– was no longer going to publish fashion photographer Terry Richardson’s work. After a fresh scrutiny of years of sexual assault and harassment allegations made against him, the decision was made. An email had circulated among the media group said work already commissioned from the 52-year-old has to be “killed or substituted with other materials”. The News:
Conde Nast US- separate from its international brand- has confirmed Time Magazine that it will no longer work with Terry Richardson. A spokeswoman for Richardson says that he is denying any allegations of assault and has been “disappointed to hear of this email especially because he has previously addressed these old stories”.
“He is an artist who has been known for his sexually explicit work so many of his professional interactions with subjects were sexual and explicit in nature but all of the subjects of his work participated consensually.”
Terry Richardson: The Scandalous Life Of Fashion’s Top Photographer and there’s some truth to it all. A complete list of allegations made against the photographer has been compiled:
Liskula Cohen, 2001:
Model Liskula Cohen told Girlie Girl Army that she walked off a fashion shoot as Mr.Richardson was making her feel like a prostitute.
“This monster has brought me so much unhappiness in my life from one photo shoot. You may think that is crazy, but it’s true.”
Gabriela Johansson, 2005:
Photographs of the Romanian model surfaced in an exhibition of Mr.Richardson’s work entitled “Beautiful Losers: Contemporary Art and Street Culture”.
Ms. Johansson has gone on record claiming that she had been “pressured” to pose naked under the premise of getting a modeling job. And in 2005, she sued him for fraud, misappropriation, invasion of privacy, breach of contract, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Sena Cech, 2009:
Model Sena Cech, who had been just 19 at the time when she worked with Richardson says that he was the first and only photographer she had known who would bare it all at a casting. In a statement to Buzzfeed, Ms.Cech alleged that the photographer’s assistant asked her to grab Mr.Richardson’s genitals.
“I was worried about getting dirty and about hurting Richardson, but he just pushed his genitals into my hand and I halfheartedly twisted it and pulled it for a few pictures.
“Then I asked if they had the shot and went to wash my hands and get dressed.
“I did not instigate the penis twisting or any kind of sexual touching. The experience was not consensual. It was revolting and humiliating.”
Rie Rasmussen, 2010:
After a photograph of her appeared in the highly explicit book Terryworld, the model has reportedly confronted Mr.Richardson at a fashion event in Paris. There she told him that his work “completely degraded women”. According to Ms.Rasmussen, he ran away, later complaining to her agency regarding her behavior.
Jamie Peck, 2010:
In an article for The Gloss, amateur model Jamie Peck has alleged that the photographer had asked her to take out her tampons to “make tea” during a photoshoot. And on a separate photoshoot, she alleges that he pressured her into performing degrading acts.
“I’m not sure how he manoeuvred me over to the couch, but at some point he strongly suggested I touch his terrifying genitals”,
wrote Ms.Peck.
